Well it finally dried up for a few days this week?then it rained all weekend. We also saw a huge warm up?until it cooled down this weekend. It was a super busy week?until it slowed down this weekend. Gas jumped back up?until it fell again over the weekend. It was another fast week that saw some beginnings, such as Luke?s baseball season get in to full swing, if you will?as well as some endings as Abby?s dance drew to a conclusion, as did some of our favorite TV shows. On Monday, it started to warm up and I got to wear shorts to work where we continued to work out front, laying mulch. Matt had weightlifting for football as well as wresting practice and Luke had a baseball game. He had a great game, going 3 for 3 including one that hit the grass (earning him ice cream). He also had 2 RBI?s and scored a run. In the field, he played pitcher where he had 3 assists and 1 throwing error. The team looked impressive against the younger Cardinals team and won easily by mercy rule ? 19-4. Their record is now 2-0. I was saddened to see the last Stargate Universe episode that evening as they decided to end this series, leaving no new Stargate shows of any kind. First it was Star Trek, then Battlestar and now SG?very sad the way Sci-Fi channel is going ? oh, but they are increasing the amount of time dedicated to professional wrestling, which makes perfect sense? On an up note, the new South Park season is going strong and is as funny and outrageous as ever! <\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Matt was back at practice and brought home a form which Ann filled out and returned for him to attend wrestling camp this summer. We had also talked about him attending a camp at either Purdue or IU this summer as well. We worked out front again at CBC, installing mulch boarders. It was much warmer, topping out at nearly 90 degrees!! It was hot and muggy. I was ready for the pool!! That evening, Abby had dance pictures with Ann and Luke went with me back over to Mom & Sandy?s house to finally mow & trim. Thanks to JT for getting my trimmers back to me after clearing whatever was bogging down my weed-eater. Thanks man! I had to add about 4 quarts of oil to Ann?s car that evening. It?s obviously burning it somewhere since there aren?t any puddles on the driveway, so we?ll have to get that figured out before we do any damage to her. We finished up and Meema & Gigi?s house and came back to work in our yard. It really felt like the heart of summer by that point. We trimmed for the first time this year, mowed the front before calling it a night due to lack of sunlight. It was American Idol night and James stole the night with his rendition of Love Potion #9 that BLEW ME AWAY! He is very talented and will have a contract no matter what the outcome is at this point. Man it was so hot on Wednesday. We worked outside again at work and it was blazing out there, man. We were so sweaty all day as it topped out in the low 90?s and was still 92 when I left for the day. We got a lot done and will only have a few things to finish up next week. It?s funny though; we went from having to scrape the frost off my truck windows last week to summer-izing the house by installing air conditioners and opening up the crawl space vents that night. We also had baseball practice at North Park tonight. Derrick wasn?t there so the other assistant and I facilitated practice. There were only 5 kids that showed up, but it was still a really good practice. Luke worked out at my old position ? 1st base. He made me proud, as he has some good skills and would make a good first baseman with a little work. The A\/C?s felt good that night and I slept better than I had in a long, long time (maybe due to the drone of the A\/C?). The kids were all excited as their yearbooks came in today. On Thursday, Matt had practice, Abby had more dance pictures as her season nears its end and Luke and I finished out in our back yard with mowing (well I mowed anyhow, he rode his go-kart in the grass and street out back). We had a dog emergency that evening. Deanna had decided to clip our dogs? hair that evening. She finished Lola up and began on Molly. However, Molly is much stronger and was able to squirm away and when she did, Deanna caught her ear pretty good, taking a hunk out of it. When it wouldn?t stop bleeding, she and Matt took her to the vet to get it fixed. She felt bad but we reassured her that we understood it was a simple accident that could?ve just as easily happened at the dog groomers. She still hasn?t let us pay her? It was also our Omelet Day at work for Hospital Week. Each year, the maintenance department cooks breakfast for the staff. This year, we cooked 40 omelets from 7-9 am, having four going at once! We were absolutely shocked that James went home ? absolutely bull shit! <\/p>\n

Friday was a gorgeous day. It was a little bit cooler and the humidity finally died down a little. Ann went scrapbooking early in the afternoon and met us out at the game. Matt was supposed to ride his bike out to catch the game, but ended up falling asleep and got there just as the game ended. I took Luke to the ball diamonds early to work on some infield at first since our usual player wasn?t at the game that night. We had several kids show up for practice but when it came time for the game to start, we came out flat. We gave up 5 runs right off the bat with Bad News Bears ? style defense. Luke played well at first, but we struggled at the pitcher position. So next inning, he was back at pitcher. At this age, the pitcher position is more like the shortstop position in later leagues ? you are very busy and have several chances at the ball. It as a very good game, as both teams were evenly matched. Luke had another fine day at the plate, going 2 for 2 with a double. He also had 2 more RBIs and scored 2 runs. He had no errors and had 3 assists and a putout with a caught pop fly ? for which he also earned a drink ticket at the concession stand! The game came down to the last inning. We were tied with the Blue Jays going in to the last inning. We held them to no runs in the top and then we came through with three straight hits in the bottom to win the game in our final at-bat! The boys won 15-14, I think, extending their record to 3-0 to start the young season! Abby missed the game due to being out with her friend Megan. They came back to our house about 9:30 to stay the night. Luke packed his gear with him and left with his buddy, Jeremy (AKA ?Germie???), where he spent the night. That left Matt and I to our own volition. We took advantage of our fleeting freedom by eating out at the Great Wall Buffet. With Luke?s allergy, we haven?t been able to go out there in about 7 years. It was great and we were both stuffed when we came out. The girls came home and we watched movies until we all fell asleep on the couch. Ann came home late at some point the next morning from her scrapbooking excursion.<\/p>\n

We enjoyed a lazy weekend. We hadn?t had a weekend off in quite a while and will pick back up after this weekend, so we took full advantage of it. We saw it cool off and we also saw the return of rain to the area. It was overcast and gloomy, which fed our yearning to stay inside and catch up on sleep. I think everyone took a nap at one point or another on Saturday. The girls ended up going out with Amy & Baili late in the day, going over to Batesville to play for a few hours. The boys went out to Mancino?s, ran to Wal-Mart and then went out for ice cream at Dairy Point. We watched the Reds win again and re-claim the NL Central lead by a half a game. I tried to work on a netbook Ann brought me from one of her friends but we couldn?t get in to it due to not having the proper password. Luke made brought home some artwork for me to show everyone. I also scoured the net for a write up on last weekend?s festivities. I found a couple different articles. I also found a cool one for Dad?s Parkside Deli. We watched an exciting Busch Series race that had a cool wreck at the end! On Sunday, we did our weekly chores and the kids did a little deeper cleaning in their rooms (spring cleaning). <\/p>\n

Leading off, we have several from Grandma Brown?s funeral in Lafayette. Included in the many pictures are Mom & Dad B, Grandpaw B, Rob & I, Sharon & Dan, Kenny & Marilou, Sharon & Keith, Norma & Ralph, as well as the preacher the presided over the day?s schedule. He recorded the entire day on cassette, which I have digitally transferred. He also did Grandpaw a couple years later. These were all taken in September of 1988. <\/p>\n
