<\/span>We had sad news to this week, as the patriarch on my mom?s side of the family passed away.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Uncle Ralph Spoor died in the hospital from complications after suffering a broken leg at his assisted living home a few weeks ago.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>He was 83.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>We hadn?t seen Uncle Ralph since Aunt Norma?s funeral back in September of 2004.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to Brenda, Karen &amp; Cathy and the rest of the family.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>We really wanted to be there with all of them and to represent the Brown family, but sadly there was just no way possible to work it out?<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=300 alt=UncleRalphObit src=\"http:\/\/www.scheumann.us\/BlogPhotos\/UncleRalphObit.jpg\" width=400 border=0 alt=\"Image\" \/> <\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=3><\/font>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><font size=3><font face=\"Times New Roman\"><span>&nbsp; <\/span>In fact, this whole week seemed like it was littered with trips to see the doctor.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>I had routine labs drawn that came back very positive again!!<span>&nbsp; <\/span><\/font><span style=\"FONT-FAMILY: Wingdings\"><span>J<\/span><\/span><font face=\"Times New Roman\"><span>&nbsp; <\/span>Ann went in for a routine dental checkup and just happened to have Bu with her.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Abby was having trouble with a baby tooth that was blocking a big tooth from coming in.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>It was a good thing she went in, as the dentist decided that it needed to be pulled to prevent future issues with it coming in crooked.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>She was <strong><em>so<\/strong><\/em> funny as she was very specific with the instructions for the Tooth Fairy; wanting her to put her dollar in this teeny-weenie treasure chest &#8211; because apparently she had done it for Matthew many years ago.<span>&nbsp; <\/span><\/font><span style=\"FONT-FAMILY: Wingdings\"><span>J<\/span><\/span><font face=\"Times New Roman\"><span>&nbsp; <\/span>Ann also had to go to the eye doctor a couple times this week.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>She had been having some eye problems and headaches, but everything came back good; so she is just looking forward to new contacts.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>?and Matt had his follow-up orthopedic appointment on Friday&#8230;<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Unfortunately, the news was not good for Matt.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>He will have to wait at least another three weeks for an another follow-up and is not to wrestle before he goes back?and that pretty much means that he is out for the rest of the season.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>He is bummed, but is trying to stay focused on getting healthy in time for track season and possibly running a 5K marathon with Abby.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Times New Roman\"><font size=3><span>&nbsp; <\/span>Saturday was a busy day for Abby, as she and Ann were up early to go to a Cheer Clinic at the high school.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>She will be cheering at half time of this coming Tuesday?s home varsity basketball game!<span>&nbsp; <\/span>I was involved in training all week long.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>I trained a <\/font><\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crisisprevention.com\/\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=3>CPI<\/font><\/a><font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=3> class on Monday and a <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.americanheart.org\/\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=3>CPR<\/font><\/a><font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=3> class on Tuesday.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Thursday, Friday &amp; Saturday, I trained 2 classes each day on the new <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.psychiatricsolutions.com\/\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=3>PSI<\/font><\/a><font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=3> corporate standards on seclusion \/ restraint.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>I hurried home on Saturday evening to grab Abby and head over to the <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.decaturcountyfamilyymca.org\/new\/home.html\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=3>YMCA<\/font><\/a><font size=3><font face=\"Times New Roman\">?s annual Daddy \/ Daughter night.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>We were the last ones to arrive, but had plenty of time to work on our poster before they served our meal of spaghetti with breadsticks, salad &amp; cookies.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Afterward, we went swimming for a couple hours and then went up to the game room, where Bu proceeded to beat me at basketball, air hockey and a game of 8-ball.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>We were the last couple to leave and decided we would get a nightcap from Dairy Queen.<span>&nbsp; <\/span><\/font><span style=\"FONT-FAMILY: Wingdings\"><span>J<\/span><\/span><font face=\"Times New Roman\"><span>&nbsp; <\/span>We came out to discover that it had snowed, melted and frozen while we were inside the previous 3 hours.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>I thought we were finally done with this white stuff, but it has remained cold the past week and the snow is still sticking as I type this up Sunday night.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Speaking of Grandmaw Brown, here are the first few pictures from a new batch I recently scanned from my cousin, Cathy Spoor?s, college graduation party.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>There are some really good ones of people I haven?t seen in a long, long time?<span>&nbsp; <\/span>The first one is Grandmaw Brown and her sister, Aunt Norma (Uncle Ralph?s wife).<span>&nbsp; <\/span>The second one is of Uncle Ralph.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>These were both taken at their home, on the outskirts of Lafayette in approximately June, 1977.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=300 alt=WayBackMachine391 src=\"http:\/\/www.scheumann.us\/BlogPhotos\/WayBackMachine391.jpg\" width=400 border=0 alt=\"Image\" \/> <img decoding=\"async\" height=500 alt=WayBackMachine392 src=\"http:\/\/www.scheumann.us\/BlogPhotos\/WayBackMachine392.jpg\" width=300 border=0 alt=\"Image\" \/> <\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Times New Roman\"><font size=3><span>&nbsp; <\/span>The second one is after lunch, at the putt-putt course with Abby &amp; Matt.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>The third one is Grandma Owens in her dining room on Main St?and the last one is of the three amigos at dinner at Crabby Bill?s.<span>&nbsp; ?and Matt had his follow-up orthopedic appointment on Friday&#8230;&nbsp; Unfortunately, the news was not good for Matt.&nbsp; He will have to wait at least another three weeks for an another follow-up and is not to wrestle before he goes back?and that pretty much means that he is out for the rest of the season.&nbsp; He is bummed, but is trying to stay focused on getting healthy in time for track season and possibly running a 5K marathon with Abby.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Saturday was a busy day for Abby, as she and Ann were up early to go to a Cheer Clinic at the high school.&nbsp; She will be cheering at half time of this coming Tuesday?s home varsity basketball game!&nbsp; I was involved in training all week long.&nbsp; I trained a CPI class on Monday and a CPR class on Tuesday.&nbsp; Thursday, Friday &amp; Saturday, I trained 2 classes each day on the new PSI corporate standards on seclusion \/ restraint.&nbsp; I hurried home on Saturday evening to grab Abby and head over to the YMCA?s annual Daddy \/ Daughter night.&nbsp; We were the last ones to arrive, but had plenty of time to work on our poster before they served our meal of spaghetti with breadsticks, salad &amp; cookies.&nbsp; Afterward, we went swimming for a couple hours and then went up to the game room, where Bu proceeded to beat me at basketball, air hockey and a game of 8-ball.&nbsp; We were the last couple to leave and decided we would get a nightcap from Dairy Queen.&nbsp; J&nbsp; We came out to discover that it had snowed, melted and frozen while we were inside the previous 3 hours.&nbsp; I thought we were finally done with this white stuff, but it has remained cold the past week and the snow is still sticking as I type this up Sunday night.&nbsp; As for swimming for a couple hours last night, let?s just say that today, my best friend is Mr. Advil?<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Anyhow, let?s get on to the Way Back feature, as I have plenty of pictures to share today.<\/p>\n<p>First up are two pictures from early in 1968 of Grandmaw Bryan and Grandpa Scheu.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Here are a couple more pictures of Christmas at Granny?s house in ?72.&nbsp; The first is of my cousin David and Aunt Mary.&nbsp; The second has David?s sister, Cathy; along with my Grandmaw Brown and little Tommy.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Speaking of Grandmaw Brown, here are the first few pictures from a new batch I recently scanned from my cousin, Cathy Spoor?s, college graduation party.&nbsp; There are some really good ones of people I haven?t seen in a long, long time?&nbsp; The first one is Grandmaw Brown and her sister, Aunt Norma (Uncle Ralph?s wife).&nbsp; The second one is of Uncle Ralph.&nbsp; These were both taken at their home, on the outskirts of Lafayette in approximately June, 1977.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Here, we fast forward a year and 2000 miles to Christmas, 1978 in Temple City, CA.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Next we move forward another two years and another 2000 miles back across the country, for a couple pictures of our first winter back in Indiana, up at our Kenwood St. home in LaPorte.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Here is Grandpa Bryan with Rob at the LP fair grounds in July, 1981.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Here are Keith &amp; Deanna at the Owens home on Main St., circa ?82.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Next is a high school yearbook picture from the spring of 1986 of my good friend Brad Cummings and myself under the hood of my ?64 Ford Galaxie 500 during auto mechanics class.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Here is another good friend of mine, Paul Drake, this time from college.&nbsp; Paul is in our F?T fraternity house in Franklin during the summer of 1989.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Here is a cute one of Rob &amp; I with Mom, back home for Christmas in ?89 or ?90 (most likely).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Here is the one car I got to keep after graduating from college (long story).&nbsp; Rob &amp; I are posing out in the front yard of our home in LP.&nbsp; That ?79 Chevy Impala had a sweet ride?<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Here is another picture of Ann and her good friend Stacy at her bachelorette party in November of ?93.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Here?s a young Gigi at Christmas time when she and MaryAnn lived out here in Ryle Addition, circa ?94-ish.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Here I am playing some disc with my good friends at Atterbury State Park during my bachelor party in September of ?95.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Here we have Grandma Scheu with Lukey at Granny?s assisted living home in late July, 2003.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Next up are a couple pictures taken in August of 2003.&nbsp; The first is of the two older kids with Uncle Ralph at the Morgan family reunion.&nbsp; It was held several years in a row at a small country church, outside of Lafayette.&nbsp; The second one is of Bu and Dukey in our living room on Russell.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Skipping ahead another month to September of ?03, we have Abby?s birthday party at our home.&nbsp; Pictured with Bu are her good friends Elaine, Megan and Baili.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Here?s Matt &amp; Keith at Disney World in June of 2004.&nbsp; This was at a Hawaiian luau that was really cool?the food was good too!!&nbsp; J<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Next we fast forward a month to the last day in July of 2004 for Nathan &amp; Steph?s wedding.&nbsp; Here is the groom with Bubby during the reception.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Here we have a couple from October 2004.&nbsp; The first is Matt helping Grandma &amp; Gigi put up their Christmas tree (with his broken arm in a cast) and the second is all the kids with Grace in their Halloween costumes on the back porch of Grandma &amp; Gigi?s house.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; And finally, we end today?s long session with four pictures from a very busy day on May 27, 2006.&nbsp; Keith and Rosie were visiting from New York.&nbsp; The first is early in the morning of at the city park with Gracie and Megan.&nbsp; The second one is after lunch, at the putt-putt course with Abby &amp; Matt.&nbsp; The third one is Grandma Owens in her dining room on Main St?and the last one is of the three amigos at dinner at Crabby Bill?s.&nbsp; That restaurant would close only a few months later.&nbsp; It would reopen as Acapulco Mexican restaurant and would quickly become our favorite dining establishment, here in town.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;
