  <\/span>I know I asked for it, but man; it has rained constantly this week?what a blah week it was?although it was sure packed with events?and besides, my grass seed loved it!  <\/span>On Monday, both Abby?s softball practice and Matt?s baseball practice was cancelled due to rain?giving us a nice little reprieve for one night.  <\/span>On Tuesday, it was soooo cold out at the ball diamonds.  <\/span>We had Lukey?s baseball practice in 40? weather.  <\/span>It?s hard enough to keep a dozen preschoolers focused on fielding when it?s nice out?you should?ve seen us that night.  <\/span>We looked like the Bad News Bears.  <\/span>LOL!  <\/span>We had much nicer weather for his Thursday night practice.  <\/span>He is doing very well this year with his fielding.  <\/span>His batting continues to be outstanding.  <\/span>Abby still hasn?t made it to a softball practice.  <\/span>She will miss all her Thursday night practices for another month, as they fall on the same night as her dance class.  <\/span>She should be able to get about 45 minutes of Monday night?s practice on Monday nights?if it?s not raining?  <\/span>We might try to run out to the new batting cages at the YMCA to get her a little b.p.  <\/span>Matt?s practice was equally cool on Wednesday night.  <\/span>In fact, they didn?t even bat because of the cold air.  <\/span>Matt had his first track meet Thursday night.  <\/span>Ann was able to attend while I was at Luke?s practice.  <\/span>By the time it was over, Matt?s portion of the field events was already over.  <\/span>His longest discus throw was 75 ft while his best shot put was 25?.  <\/span>Abby continues with her Girls on the Run program, moving ever closer to her 5K run.  <\/span><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

  <\/span>On Friday, Ann attended another special scrap booking function with Amy at Mrs.?s B?s.  <\/span>While she was with the girls, the kids and I had fun playing baseball out front for a couple hours – until it was so dark they couldn?t see the ball.  <\/span>Matt hit this one ball that nearly cleared the huge 50? pine tree in the neighbor?s yard!  We then had dinner and a movie.  Well, <\/span>I finally got back to mowing this week.  <\/span>I ended up having to break down and buy a new <\/font><\/font>trimmer<\/font><\/a> & <\/font>blower<\/font><\/a>.  <\/span>However, instead of getting the Weed Eater brand again, I decided to try a step up to the PoulanPro line, in hopes that these tools will last longer than 2 or 3 seasons.  <\/span>Ann?s car turned out to be an emissions issue; but we found out that it has a few other issues that need to be addressed in the steering rack and other suspension-related areas?should be fun!  <\/span>We had a sad call from Mom this week, as one of our family friends died of ALS this week.  <\/span>Sue Yoakum was not only originally from Lafayette (like my folks and I), but she and her husband George also lived up in LaPorte and became close friends with my folks at Pine Lake, hanging out on the docks at their boats.  <\/span>ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig?s disease, is the philanthropy that I was involved with as a member of F?T.  <\/span><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

  <\/span>On Saturday, Abby had a big day as she attended the year?s first dance competition.  <\/span>Hosted by Rainbow Connection, the 2009 Golden Tournament of Talent was held at Ben Davis High School in Indy.  <\/span>The girls danced to ?Too Cool??? off the soundtrack to the Disney film ?<\/font><\/font>Camp Rock<\/font><\/a>.?  <\/span>The girls did very, very well?earning a gold medal for their performance.  <\/span>Poor Abby got confused on their starting position as they walked out on stage.  <\/span>All the other girls stopped at the edge of the stage while she kept walking.  <\/span>She says I?m in trouble for including it here and for putting the pictures up.  <\/span><\/font>J<\/span><\/span>  <\/span>They were very strict about no cameras or video taping (the penalty for getting caught is the immediate expulsion of your team)?and now we know why.  <\/span>They say it is because many of the performances are copyrighted?but we found out the true reason?so they can sell you the pictures and the video!  <\/span>What a racket?the video was fairly reasonable but the pictures were incredibly pricey.  <\/span>?of course, we had to have them?  <\/span>The girls really enjoyed themselves – they were truly in their element – and Abby was beautiful all shined up.  <\/span>As for the boys?well, we played video games, listened to iPods and made fun of all the weird people.  : )  I don’t know if this video will show or not, so if it doesn’t show up below, I apologize (it’s my first time), so here is the direct link:  http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=56bhSngHAi0<\/a><\/span><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n
