We enjoyed spending time with our family and friends. The 4th of July always allows us the opportunity to spend time with the ones we love.  Our house was alive with all the energy from the kids and their friends \/ significant others in-tow.  It felt like old times, as we stayed busy with everyone.  Matt continues to study for his teacher?s license while still trying to get his summer job transferred up to one of the Greenwood facilities.  He and Taylor have enjoyed spending the summer together.  Abby had Garrett down and he ended up staying for the entire weekend?the poor kid will probably never be the same! Bu worked fulltime at her job, despite wanting to work less.  It was Moratorium Week for Luke?and he enjoyed every minute of it.  This is the one week of the entire year where he has zero responsibilities. Ann did manage to get his driver?s ed lessons lined-up.  Ann got around better this week and continues to drop weight. She?s looking great and feeling better each day. She seemed to sleep better this week as well, which meant everyone was happy. LOL!  I struggled with my diet this week, as we attended several parties.  I did work really hard while exercising, sweating my butt off as Justin &#038; I pushed ourselves really hard &#8211; it felt great.  I managed to drop a couple pounds before we entered the long, holiday weekend.  Despite the heat and humidity, we did enjoy a mostly dry Independence Day holiday weekend?but our over-worked air conditioner needs a rest soon?\t<\/p>\n<p>  It was a hot, humid start to the week.  It was back to work for Abby, Ann &#038; I while Luke enjoyed the first day of Moratorium Week.  That meant no football, no baseball and no basketball!  He enjoyed it by doing absolutely nothing all day.  Ann &#038; I had fast days at work, thankfully.  Justin &#038; I walked a 5K on a sunny afternoon in the low 90s.  We got home and didn?t do much of anything but stay cool and watch some shows on the DVR that evening.  Luke &#038; I did go out and pick-up Oakley to bring him over to stay the night with us.  The boys chose to ride back into town in the back of Betty White, just like they used to when they were little.  Once Bu got home from work, she took Luke &#038; Oakley (along with Ann?s bank card?) and went to the store to get food for the week. The day absolutely flew by for Annie and I.  Abs again worked at Wings &#038; Rings while Luke &#038; Oak slept in.  Around lunchtime, they wound up out at the city pool, as they tried to beat the heat.  Ann made spicy, cheesy meatballs for me to take to the Sunken Boat Bar that evening.  Bryan, Bob, Rick, Shawn and I all met up for a boys? night out to eat, drink, play cards and be merry! ???? When Bu got off work, she went out with Mary.  Luke stayed up late to make sure I didn?t need a ride home that evening (what a good boy!). Luke enjoyed another day off from everything while Abby worked at BWR again.  Justin &#038; I walked a 5K on an extremely hot day that should?ve been walked inside the air-conditioned mall!  Matt &#038; Taylor came home that evening.  Garrett also came down to spend the holiday with us.  Bu &#038; I watched the US women?s national soccer team beat England to move on to the championships!  Afterward, we went out back and played cornhole all night.  Bryan &#038; Angie joined us to watch the city fireworks.  We had to stand down behind the shed to see most of them due to the new homes behind us?but we had a good view from there.  We played until after midnight, getting in several hours of ?bags.???  I was excited to receive a phone call from Tobin?s fireworks, where we won a free cake! It was the 100th anniversary of the Greensburg parade?and the second year with no Scheu kids participating.  We were a few minutes late getting uptown and someone had already taken our corner seats.  Thankfully, we were able to find room for all seven of us just a few feet down from our usual spot.  The parade went very fast again this year.  There weren?t many floats nor cool cars.  We were a little disappointed that there wasn?t a bigger deal or even a float celebrating the 100th year of the parade.  The kids went down to see Gigi and get popsicles after the parade passed us.  We ran to the store to get a few items so Ann could make her delicious jalapeno popper dip for the pitch-in lunch at Mom &#038; Sandy?s house.  I am not lying when I say that it didn?t last 10 minutes once we set it down on their dining room table! Gigi?s Gourmet was open and we enjoyed cheeseburgers, hot dogs, Mom?s mac &#038; cheese, corn casserole, Annie?s jalapeno popper dip, Jamie?s backed beans, veggies and dip, strawberries and whipped cream and chocolate chip cookies ? we were all stuffed!  So much for my diet?yikes.  We watched the annual hot dog eating contest and of course Joey won again.  This year, he ate 71 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes ? wow! We came back and everyone took naps.  Later, the kids and I went over to the Rick &#038; Lynn?s house to swim, grill-out and let off fireworks while Ms. Ann stayed home and nursed her aching knees.  We had such a good time with Rick &#038; Lynn, Bryan &#038; Angie, Shawn &#038; Ally, Matt &#038; Taylor, Abby &#038; Garrett, Rick?s niece Sarah and her daughter and Luke &#038; I.  Everyone missed Ann, though.  Rick grilled burgers, dogs and BBQ chicken that were all amazing.  At dusk, we mixed up two pounds of Tannerite and blew a huge hole in Rick?s yard!  Sorry, buddy?  We had some loud crackers (Rise in the East and Aliens), a couple cakes (Kong ? the free one from Tobin?s &#8211; and The Butterfly Effect) and some double-break mortar shells that were really great.  Garrett went home but decided to come back and stay the rest of the weekend with us.  Luke was my designated driver and did a good job of driving us to Taco Bell in the wee hours of the night and then safely got us home. The kids all got up and went to Gma &#038; Gigi?s house for lunch.  We said good-bye to Matt and Taylor, who had to head back up north.  Ann &#038; I napped and watched some TV, taking it easy.  Later, we went grocery shopping and Ann cooked a bunch of sides for a dinner party that evening. She made a dish of mac &#038; cheese, two pans of jalapeno popper dip (one for to keep at home for Abby!) and a pan of roasted veggie salad.  That evening, we went over to Christy &#038; Jimmy?s house where we met up them, Kristie &#038; Aaron and later Mary &#038; Jason.  Abby had to work at BWR and missed the get together, but Luke &#038; Garrett came over with us and hung out with all the West kids, Christy?s girls and Mary?s boys.  While the kids swam in the pool and played cornhole, the adults sat inside and talked and laughed for hours.  Aaron &#038; I had the boys go get a couple of big crackers and Jimmy &#038; I let them off ? they were a new product called the Thunder Cracker.  Although they were more expensive, they were definitely the loudest crackers we had this year?and to be sure, we?ll be looking for them next year!  We hung out for till about midnight and ate like kings. There was so much food.  I am really going to have to work hard next week!  I felt bad because I fell asleep a couple times and Ann &#038; I left before everyone else. I came home, went on to bed and fell instantly to sleep.  Man, I?m old? I was the first one up (of course, I was the first one to bed last night, so I guess that makes sense). I checked the fluids in the all the vehicles then woke-up Luke.  We loaded up Betty White and headed out to run a few errands around town. We ended up at Mom &#038; Sandy?s house, where we mowed, trimmed and cut-out a dead limb from the tree out front.  Luke drove us to Taco Bell for lunch, to the bank drive thru and to the gas station to re-fuel the pickup before heading back and mowing \/ trimming at the house. I had him stop at the junior high and we worked on his parallel parking skills.  I set up a course for him and he ran through it a half dozen times and he eventually got the hang of it.  I told him if he can do it in that big pickup truck, he?ll do fine in the little car he will be driving for his test.  It was so freaking hot ? I was so sweaty that I looked like I had just got out of the pool by the time we got done mowing!  We also trimmed the big tulip tree out back and pressure washed the long, composite fence that spans the south side of our backyard.  Luke &#038; I couldn?t believe how gross it was?but it looks brand new again now!  Although it took forever and wore out our muscles, the back spray did provide a bit of relief in the hot sunshine.  Luke showered and went to the movies with Garrett while I cleaned everything up in the yard. The boys saw the new Annabelle horror movie and they said it was just OK and that they should?ve waited for it to come to home video.  Ann was napping when I came in to get cleaned-up and the boys both took naps when they returned as well.  Abby had to work a double shift at Wings &#038; Rings, so she was gone most of the day again. Ann made homemade chicken tenders and heated up leftovers from last night?s party.  It looked like rain all day (on and off all week, actually), but it didn?t let loose in our area until a line of storms rolled through in the early evening. The humidity that day was just awful and even after dark, it still felt like breathing through a wet blanket ? yuk! After dinner, the boys met Abby at the movie theater to see the new Spiderman movie while Ann &#038; I watched another SVU marathon and our DVR?d shows, worn-out from the long week.  We hated to miss the Lowe?s party, but I was just wiped-out from working in the heat today ? damn, I?m old? We slowly got moving and did our weekly household chores.  I took it easy that morning, checking in new Hot Wheels while watching Star Trek and waited for Bu to get up so we could watch the US women?s soccer team defeat the Netherlands in the FIFA World Cup!  How exciting!!  Ann made cheesy popcorn for lunch then went shopping with Abby &#038; Garrett. They brought back DQ for a mid-afternoon snack and then everyone took naps while I watched the NASCAR races in Daytona, Ancient Aliens. We continued being couch potatoes all evening, watching Elementary, Queen of the South and The In-Between on the DVR and then wrapping up the week by watching a couple of our favorites ? Fear the Walking Dead and Big Little Lies.  We said good-bye to Garrett and Abby went to bed. Luke got his airsoft gun re-listed on eBay after they took down his first attempt.  He?s excited to sell it order to buy a new one.  He didn?t last long either before calling it a night.  Although he won?t have any more basketball until the end of the year, he will likely have his baseball tourney next week as well as putting his main focus on football, culminating with another scrimmage on Thursday.  It was a relaxing way to wrap up a tremendous weekend and another fast week, here at the Scheu abode.      <\/p>\n<p>  Next up is our Waybac section which continues to feature our final photo album &#8211; #18 ? of our young family. We lead off this time with a classic that we?ve shown on here a few times through the years ? the sunset pirate cruise from John?s Pass at Madeira Beach in May 2002; next is Matt in his kindergarten The 4th of July always allows us the opportunity to spend time with the ones we love.  Our house was alive with all the energy from the kids and their friends \/ significant others in-tow.  It felt like old times, as we stayed busy with everyone.  Matt continues to study for his teacher?s license while still trying to get his summer job transferred up to one of the Greenwood facilities.  He and Taylor have enjoyed spending the summer together.  Abby had Garrett down and he ended up staying for the entire weekend?the poor kid will probably never be the same! Bu worked fulltime at her job, despite wanting to work less.  It was Moratorium Week for Luke?and he enjoyed every minute of it.  This is the one week of the entire year where he has zero responsibilities. Ann did manage to get his driver?s ed lessons lined-up.  Ann got around better this week and continues to drop weight. She?s looking great and feeling better each day. She seemed to sleep better this week as well, which meant everyone was happy. LOL!  I struggled with my diet this week, as we attended several parties.  I did work really hard while exercising, sweating my butt off as Justin &#038; I pushed ourselves really hard &#8211; it felt great.  I managed to drop a couple pounds before we entered the long, holiday weekend.  Despite the heat and humidity, we did enjoy a mostly dry Independence Day holiday weekend?but our over-worked air conditioner needs a rest soon?\t<\/p>\n<p>  It was a hot, humid start to the week.  It was back to work for Abby, Ann &#038; I while Luke enjoyed the first day of Moratorium Week.  That meant no football, no baseball and no basketball!  He enjoyed it by doing absolutely nothing all day.  Ann &#038; I had fast days at work, thankfully.  Justin &#038; I walked a 5K on a sunny afternoon in the low 90s.  We got home and didn?t do much of anything but stay cool and watch some shows on the DVR that evening.  Luke &#038; I did go out and pick-up Oakley to bring him over to stay the night with us.  The boys chose to ride back into town in the back of Betty White, just like they used to when they were little.  Once Bu got home from work, she took Luke &#038; Oakley (along with Ann?s bank card?) and went to the store to get food for the week.  Here are pictures of Luke opening his birthday presents last weekend.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>  Tuesday was another hot &#038; muggy day.  The day absolutely flew by for Annie and I.  Abs again worked at Wings &#038; Rings while Luke &#038; Oak slept in.  Around lunchtime, they wound up out at the city pool, as they tried to beat the heat.  Ann made spicy, cheesy meatballs for me to take to the Sunken Boat Bar that evening.  Bryan, Bob, Rick, Shawn and I all met up for a boys? night out to eat, drink, play cards and be merry! ???? When Bu got off work, she went out with Mary.  Luke stayed up late to make sure I didn?t need a ride home that evening (what a good boy!). Luke enjoyed another day off from everything while Abby worked at BWR again.  Justin &#038; I walked a 5K on an extremely hot day that should?ve been walked inside the air-conditioned mall!  Matt &#038; Taylor came home that evening.  Garrett also came down to spend the holiday with us.  Bu &#038; I watched the US women?s national soccer team beat England to move on to the championships!  Afterward, we went out back and played cornhole all night.  Bryan &#038; Angie joined us to watch the city fireworks.  We had to stand down behind the shed to see most of them due to the new homes behind us?but we had a good view from there.  We played until after midnight, getting in several hours of ?bags.???  I was excited to receive a phone call from Tobin?s fireworks, where we won a free cake!  Here are pictures of the latest additions to my Hot Wheels collection.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>  We were up early on Thursday morning for the 4th of July parade.  It was the 100th anniversary of the Greensburg parade?and the second year with no Scheu kids participating.  We were a few minutes late getting uptown and someone had already taken our corner seats.  Thankfully, we were able to find room for all seven of us just a few feet down from our usual spot.  The parade went very fast again this year.  There weren?t many floats nor cool cars.  We were a little disappointed that there wasn?t a bigger deal or even a float celebrating the 100th year of the parade.  The kids went down to see Gigi and get popsicles after the parade passed us.  We ran to the store to get a few items so Ann could make her delicious jalapeno popper dip for the pitch-in lunch at Mom &#038; Sandy?s house.  I am not lying when I say that it didn?t last 10 minutes once we set it down on their dining room table! Gigi?s Gourmet was open and we enjoyed cheeseburgers, hot dogs, Mom?s mac &#038; cheese, corn casserole, Annie?s jalapeno popper dip, Jamie?s backed beans, veggies and dip, strawberries and whipped cream and chocolate chip cookies ? we were all stuffed!  So much for my diet?yikes.  We watched the annual hot dog eating contest and of course Joey won again.  This year, he ate 71 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes ? wow! We came back and everyone took naps.  Later, the kids and I went over to the Rick &#038; Lynn?s house to swim, grill-out and let off fireworks while Ms. Ann stayed home and nursed her aching knees.  We had such a good time with Rick &#038; Lynn, Bryan &#038; Angie, Shawn &#038; Ally, Matt &#038; Taylor, Abby &#038; Garrett, Rick?s niece Sarah and her daughter and Luke &#038; I.  Everyone missed Ann, though.  Rick grilled burgers, dogs and BBQ chicken that were all amazing.  At dusk, we mixed up two pounds of Tannerite and blew a huge hole in Rick?s yard!  Sorry, buddy?  We had some loud crackers (Rise in the East and Aliens), a couple cakes (Kong ? the free one from Tobin?s &#8211; and The Butterfly Effect) and some double-break mortar shells that were really great.  Garrett went home but decided to come back and stay the rest of the weekend with us.  Luke was my designated driver and did a good job of driving us to Taco Bell in the wee hours of the night and then safely got us home. Here are pictures of Luke and I?s canoe trip last weekend.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>  We all enjoyed sleeping-in on Friday.  The kids all got up and went to Gma &#038; Gigi?s house for lunch.  We said good-bye to Matt and Taylor, who had to head back up north.  Ann &#038; I napped and watched some TV, taking it easy.  Later, we went grocery shopping and Ann cooked a bunch of sides for a dinner party that evening. She made a dish of mac &#038; cheese, two pans of jalapeno popper dip (one for to keep at home for Abby!) and a pan of roasted veggie salad.  That evening, we went over to Christy &#038; Jimmy?s house where we met up them, Kristie &#038; Aaron and later Mary &#038; Jason.  Abby had to work at BWR and missed the get together, but Luke &#038; Garrett came over with us and hung out with all the West kids, Christy?s girls and Mary?s boys.  While the kids swam in the pool and played cornhole, the adults sat inside and talked and laughed for hours.  Aaron &#038; I had the boys go get a couple of big crackers and Jimmy &#038; I let them off ? they were a new product called the Thunder Cracker.  Although they were more expensive, they were definitely the loudest crackers we had this year?and to be sure, we?ll be looking for them next year!  We hung out for till about midnight and ate like kings. There was so much food.  I am really going to have to work hard next week!  I felt bad because I fell asleep a couple times and Ann &#038; I left before everyone else. I came home, went on to bed and fell instantly to sleep.  Man, I?m old?  Here are random pictures from our recent adventures.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>  I felt like crap on Saturday morning.  I was the first one up (of course, I was the first one to bed last night, so I guess that makes sense). I checked the fluids in the all the vehicles then woke-up Luke.  We loaded up Betty White and headed out to run a few errands around town. We ended up at Mom &#038; Sandy?s house, where we mowed, trimmed and cut-out a dead limb from the tree out front.  Luke drove us to Taco Bell for lunch, to the bank drive thru and to the gas station to re-fuel the pickup before heading back and mowing \/ trimming at the house. I had him stop at the junior high and we worked on his parallel parking skills.  I set up a course for him and he ran through it a half dozen times and he eventually got the hang of it.  I told him if he can do it in that big pickup truck, he?ll do fine in the little car he will be driving for his test.  It was so freaking hot ? I was so sweaty that I looked like I had just got out of the pool by the time we got done mowing!  We also trimmed the big tulip tree out back and pressure washed the long, composite fence that spans the south side of our backyard.  Luke &#038; I couldn?t believe how gross it was?but it looks brand new again now!  Although it took forever and wore out our muscles, the back spray did provide a bit of relief in the hot sunshine.  Luke showered and went to the movies with Garrett while I cleaned everything up in the yard. The boys saw the new Annabelle horror movie and they said it was just OK and that they should?ve waited for it to come to home video.  Ann was napping when I came in to get cleaned-up and the boys both took naps when they returned as well.  Abby had to work a double shift at Wings &#038; Rings, so she was gone most of the day again. Ann made homemade chicken tenders and heated up leftovers from last night?s party.  It looked like rain all day (on and off all week, actually), but it didn?t let loose in our area until a line of storms rolled through in the early evening. The humidity that day was just awful and even after dark, it still felt like breathing through a wet blanket ? yuk! After dinner, the boys met Abby at the movie theater to see the new Spiderman movie while Ann &#038; I watched another SVU marathon and our DVR?d shows, worn-out from the long week.  We hated to miss the Lowe?s party, but I was just wiped-out from working in the heat today ? damn, I?m old?  We have lots of social media pictures to share this week.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>  Everyone enjoyed sleeping in on Sunday morning.  We slowly got moving and did our weekly household chores.  I took it easy that morning, checking in new Hot Wheels while watching Star Trek and waited for Bu to get up so we could watch the US women?s soccer team defeat the Netherlands in the FIFA World Cup!  How exciting!!  Ann made cheesy popcorn for lunch then went shopping with Abby &#038; Garrett. They brought back DQ for a mid-afternoon snack and then everyone took naps while I watched the NASCAR races in Daytona, Ancient Aliens. We continued being couch potatoes all evening, watching Elementary, Queen of the South and The In-Between on the DVR and then wrapping up the week by watching a couple of our favorites ? Fear the Walking Dead and Big Little Lies.  We said good-bye to Garrett and Abby went to bed. Luke got his airsoft gun re-listed on eBay after they took down his first attempt.  He?s excited to sell it order to buy a new one.  He didn?t last long either before calling it a night.  Although he won?t have any more basketball until the end of the year, he will likely have his baseball tourney next week as well as putting his main focus on football, culminating with another scrimmage on Thursday.  It was a relaxing way to wrap up a tremendous weekend and another fast week, here at the Scheu abode.      <\/p>\n<p>  Next up is our Waybac section which continues to feature our final photo album &#8211; #18 ? of our young family. We lead off this time with a classic that we?ve shown on here a few times through the years ? the sunset pirate cruise from John?s Pass at Madeira Beach in May 2002; next is Matt in his kindergarten classroom in September 2003; after that, all of the pix are from 2004: Ann with Megan in April; the kids at Chrystie?s house in June; Abby helping Luke open presents during his first birthday party in June; then Luke getting his first haircut with Ms. Joann in June; Abby &#038; Gma in the Fourth of July parade, obviously in July; Gracie?s birthday party in July; and then finally, we see Abby?s birthday party in September.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>  Next, we wrap up this entry with our video segment which features one new family movie from this week along with a slew of other vids from around the internet.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>  And that does it for this week?s entry into the Scheu Family Blog.
