We?ve had a really good week since we last touched base. Matt enjoyed the week off from teaching as his school entered a week of Fall Break. He worked at the restaurant but otherwise got to slow down a bit this week. Abby was back to regular classes as everyone received a clean bill of COVID health on campus. She got to spend time with Gary as they celebrated a big milestone as well. Luke got straight A?s on his report card and wrapped up the regular season of football in style. I really enjoyed spending the day with him yesterday; it was just like old times for a little while. Ann enjoyed spending a little time with her friends this week. I continued to work hard restoring our IT systems at work after the cyberattack a couple weeks ago. We made tremendous progress and by weeks? end we were completely back up and running! It wasn?t easy and exhausted me both physically and mentally. I didn?t have much time to exercise this week again, logging only a little over five miles because I had to stay focused on our computer issues. I have to say, it has been quite the learning experience. But now, I can finally breathe again?and this weekend, my stress level FINALLY came back down and I feel like I can begin to settle down. It was a lot of pressure and stress – I?m so glad it?s over? It was nice to relax this weekend and enjoy something I really love: watching football at different levels ? high school, college and pro. We finally had some normalcy for the first time in weeks. Our landscapes continued to change this week – trees are all different colors and the leaves are really coming down. During our commutes to work we see farmers out in the fields and road construction is everywhere. The temps are steadily coming down and baseball playoffs are nearing an end. I?m still in denial over Uncle John?s death and played nothing by Van Halen on my phone this week. I added a few new treasures to my HW collection and Sam Adams? Octoberfest beer is back. Yes, this is my favorite time of year without a doubt and this week was the perfect way for us to begin that season. It was back to work and school on Monday morning. Abby returned to actual classes after a week of virtual learning. Ann & I both had long days at work. We didn?t make any progress in our efforts to restore our computer systems today but I had lots of meetings about it. After a fast day, I walked a 5K around the airport property on a warm but overcast afternoon. We received notifications that we lost power at the house, but it was back on by the time we got back to town. We turned on the A\/C that evening due to the high levels of humidity. A big band of storms blew through the area that night. Delilah was fascinated by the trees that were arcing and all the leaves blowing in the strong winds. I understand this was from the remnants of the hurricane in the gulf. Luke said he had a good first day back to school, following his Fall Break last week. He said practice was a little rough due to all the conditioning they did that evening. He was pretty worn out and spent a quiet night in his room. Matt enjoyed his first day of Fall Break. Although he isn?t teaching, he is still working at the restaurant to get some extra cash before wrestling season begins. Ann made chicken Tinga tacos that were outstanding. Afterward, I tried to watch the MNF game with the Saints, but I kept falling asleep. I went to bed to watch the 4th quarter but fell asleep. I heard they won in OT ? sorry I missed it! It was much cooler on Tuesday morning. We had a foggy commute back into work. It was another fast, busy day for us as we made minor steps in our recovery efforts. I have all the computers re-built but we still have to get our networking equipment back up as well as our servers. It is a long road to recovery but we are getting closer. I didn?t have a chance to walk that evening, getting out of work just in time to pickup Ms. Ann and head back home. After we cleaned up the dog messes in the house, I went out to the park to play a couple rounds of frisbee golf. The wind was still pretty stiff and I had a tough go of it my first time through the course, ending up with a 1-over-par. I finally got the hang of it and did much better on my second round with a 3-under-par 24 to cap off the evening with two miles of exercise. I warmed up some leftovers for dinner and watched Lovecraft Country and The Third Day (a couple of HBO original series) while Ann read. Luke came home long enough to get cleaned up and then went out with his buddies for a few hours. It was Abby & Garrett?s two-year anniversary. They had been apart for a couple weeks, as Gary quarantined with his roommates. They went out for a date to an art museum and then had dinner and drinks at an Italian restaurant in Indy called Capri. I received a call from Abby before we left for work on Wednesday morning. Of course, as a parent, your heart just sinks when you child calls you at an odd hour of the day. Thankfully, she was calling because she had merely locked herself out of her car. She was on campus and her roommates were in the dorm, so she was fine. It gave us an excuse to get some Abby time. We figured she did it on purpose so we?d come up and take her out to dinner! LOL! Either way, it worked. It was a crazy, busy day at work for me as we made significant progress towards restoring our network and by the time I left, we had it up and both myself and my boss had working computers ? yay! I did not have time to walk as I finished up just in time to get Ann picked up and we headed up to Franklin to see Bu. We let her pick where we went?until Ann kept saying, ?Well?anything but that!??? a few times. We wound up downtown at the Tapp Room, which features Quaff On beer and Greek?s Pizzeria. Abby had a couple of plum beers; Ann had a blood orange beer and I had a couple Six-Foot Strawberry blonde ales. Abby and I split a chicken, bacon, ranch pizza that was really good. We had their soft pretzels that were the perfect starter. We ran into Tina Jobe and her daughter Haley, who is a senior in high school. We had a nice visit with Abs before we headed home. Meanwhile, Luke had school, where he had his final test of the first nine week. He got straight-A?s! ???? He went out with Brayden and friends to eat dinner at ElRep. By the time we got home, he had already gone to bed. We tried to watch a few shows, but we kept falling asleep so we just went on to bed. It was noticeably cooler on Thursday morning as we got into the car on Thursday morning and headed into work. I had another full day of computer remediation. But this day we finally got everyone back up on the corporate network. Although I have a few things to do yet, we are very nearly finished with the entire project ? at least at our facility, thank God. I was late getting out of work again and wound up not having any time left to exercise again. It had rained on and off all day and when I went outside, I was shocked at how chilly it was?it was in the flipping? 40s! Luke called and asked what we were doing for dinner. We said we were taking him out for dinner for getting straight A?s on his report card. He picked Wings & Rings and invited Brayden to join us for a cold beer and some chicken. We came home and the boys went out for a while as Ann & I relaxed with the dogs. While she read, I began watching a new show (to me) on Apple TV+ called The Morning Show with Jennifer Aniston and Reece Witherspoon. Although we had the day off on Friday and were looking forward to sleeping in, Lola made sure we were up at our regular time due to her incessant barking. So, we just got up and started our day. We had a frost warning overnight and it was pretty cold in the house which bothered Ann more than it did me. I wrote out the bills and did Abby?s FAFSA. Afterward, I ran out to Walmart to get our weekly supplies and do a little HW hunting. Ann went out to lunch with Shawna, downtown at Stories, where the special of the day was salmon patties but she already knew what she was getting ? their Throwdown award-winning tenderloin. It is good ? one of the best I?ve ever had. They got out a little late and so Shawna wound up taking her straight to her doctor appointment. Meanwhile, I began editing pictures for this week?s blog entry. I picked up Ms. Ann from her appointment and we came home to relax and nap. However, work kept calling so I never did get much of nap in. It was cool though, as corporate was finishing up with our networking and needed to do some testing. I was able to get ahold of a nurse at work and we completed everything. It is a big relief to know that I?ll only have a few things to clean-up with our IT system before I can finally move on to the stuff I was supposed to be doing three weeks ago. We got Barney loaded up, swung past Jimmy John?s for Luke?s post-game snack and headed up 3 to Rushville. It was Luke & the varsity Pirate?s final regular season game. I think it?s awesome that we got the whole season in amidst all the doubt caused by the pandemic. The staff and kids did a good job of staying safe and healthy so far. We dressed in layers that night. Ann had like 6 layers on and her electric gloves. I had on a short-sleeved shirt and a sweatshirt. I had other stuff, but I didn?t need it. I kept warm by screaming and yelling. The game was never very competitive, which is just fine with me. We came out strong and finished strong, blowing out the Lions, 52-6. Luke again started at middle linebacker and left guard, playing both ways the entire way. He was pretty tired after the game when we met him outside the stadium to congratulate him. The Pirates finish the regular season with a 5-4 record. They were 4-1 on the road and only 1-3 at home. They head to Charleston next week in the opening round of Sectionals. Luke?s stats: 16 tackles (8 solo \/ 8 assists), including a tackle for loss and a QB hurry. We came home and at and then pretty much fell asleep? We were up way to early for a Saturday, but we had a lot to do that day. We drove over to St. Paul to get our goodies from Wildflour Bakery. On our way home, we stopped by Dunkin for Luke and then stopped by to see Mom & Sandy and deliver their pastries. Once we got home, Amy picked up Annie and they went to North Vernon (well?actually an even smaller town called Comiskey) for their annual festival. Meanwhile I enjoyed my goodies on the back porch while the dogs ran around outside. It was another cool morning but definitely warmer than yesterday. I got Luke up and he drove us to Davis & Daughters to get the oil changed in the Hot Rod Lincoln. We stopped by the carwash afterward and saw Drew & Brayden working there. As we came back into the neighborhood, we stopped at a couple garage sales and found a bag of Hot Wheels for $2 so how could I refuse? I was pleasantly surprised to find six cars that filled holes in my collection! Next, we loaded up Betty White and headed over to Gma & Gigi?s house to rake, mow & trim. We came home and mowed\/trimmed for the first time in a few weeks. We laughed that it might be the last time we do it this year?but we all know that I?ll mow a couple more times yet before putting away the tools for the winter. We ran to Taco Bell, where the dining room is still closed so we grabbed drive through and came home to eat a late lunch. Brayden picked up Luke and they went over to help Memaw get Christmas stuff down from the attic. Meanwhile, I checked fluids in the vehicles with Molly out front. I also put on the new license plates we got in the mail this week. At that point, I was pretty pooped, so I came in and got cleaned-up and sat down to watch some college football while checking my newest Hot Wheels. Ann came home as I was falling asleep. We caught up for a few minutes and napped a little. We kept getting a notification that our Ring?s battery was low. We?ve never had any issues with the device as it is hard wired. So why it would suddenly become an issue this week is beyond us. I had to run to Topps to get a driver for the screws since I apparently didn?t keep the one that came with it. I got it off and got it charged while Ann made cheesy Fireworks popcorn for dinner. Luke went out with Kameron with Maggie and her friend on a double date. They went to a movie and hung out that night. Ann & I napped while she read and I finished up editing picture and videos. Just after Annie went to bed the boys came over and told me stories about their night. We watched the end of the #2 Bama vs. #3 Georgia game and some Ninja Warriors before the boys went on to bed. I stayed up for a while, working on the blog and watching some DVR?d shows. There was a great Live from Darryl?s House with Sammy Hagar that I taped. Sammy puts on a good concert. Ann & I saw him at Deer Creek years ago with Jackyl at the Q95 25th anniversary concert. We have lots of social media pictures to share this week.<\/p>\n

We were hoping to sleep in on Sunday morning?but Lola had other plans for us again. I think we need a muzzle for her?or maybe a giant cork? I stayed up after letting the dogs out and wrote this week?s html code for the blog. It was a drizzly, overcast morning and it pretty much stayed that way all day. Ann & I took advantage of the weather by napping on and off all afternoon and into the evening. I watched a bunch of DVR?d shows while Ann read the Outlander series books. There were some excellent NFL games that went right down to the last minute before being decided. The afternoon games were boring, so I put on Luke?s game and did stats then watched the NASCAR races at Kansas. We did our weekly household chores, including fixing the Ring doorbell. For the first year, we never had to charge it, now suddenly it ran low and had to be charged. Not sure if that is normal or if we have an issue. I got it re-charged and re-mounted so I guess we?ll see. Luke and Kameron slept in until almost noon. They got up and cleaned their cars as it had stopped raining by that point. Luke came back to shower before he went into work for the first time at Hibbett?s. It was Delilah?s first birthday. Her present? We put Lola outside for several hours so that DJ could relax and get all the attention! Luke came home and said he had a good day at work. He was excited to not be working in fast food and who can blame him? He was hungry when he got off work and took the liberty of ordering us dinner from Pizza King that night ? with our bank card, of course. We watched the uncut version of The Hangover. What a classic in the uncut form. The TV version just isn?t the same? We wound down the weekend flipping between game 7 of the NLCS (LA vs. ATL) and Sunday Night Football while I finished up the blog and called it a week.<\/p>\n
