Matt went to football practice early on Monday morning and again on Tuesday morning. Despite Bob II kicking the bucket without making it even 48 hours with us, I am amazed that Feyesh is still going strong. Luke has done a good job of being responsible for feeding his fish. Unfortunately, on Tuesday evening our TV wouldn?t come back on again. It obviously has an issue that needs to be repaired. The closest TV repairman we found was in a town 40 minutes away. Best Buy wanted $150 just to show up at our door. So we called Mom & Sandy and went over in the truck. They were very kind to loan us their large screen TV that was in Gigi?s bedroom. I was very impressed with Matthew. He really stepped up and did a great job of helping me to move it downstairs and in to the truck. Thank God, it came apart. Still, it was very heavy and to top it off it began to rain as we loaded it in the truck. By the time we got it home there was a tornado warning. But the funny thing is; it rained hard that evening a couple times?but it didn?t get a drop on us?weird. We got everything in and man, it is a big TV. He learned a lot about moving furniture and will be a big help in the future. Ann and Phyllis swapped books and we caught up with them for about an hour. We ended up getting a gallon or so of Grater?s ice cream from them as well as several fresh veggies from out of their garden. Ann & Bu used those veggies for some delicious homemade salsa that we enjoyed all week? On Wednesday night, we were going to take a long bike ride but it rained again ? for a third evening in a row. Ever since Abby lost her tooth about 3 weeks ago, Luke has been obsessed with his loose tooth. This week he has really worked on wiggling it and wants me to pull it. He is so funny; this evening, he tells me to come yank it out and then when I start to, he closes his mouth, covers it with his hands and tells me to stop in a whiney voice. We went through this about three or four times before I told him that it needed more wiggles. It finally stopped raining long enough for me to get our pool chemicals balanced and Ann made one of my favorite dinners ? salmon patties! On Thursday, you?ll never guess what the weather was like?yep, more rain. Luke spent the night at Brandy?s with his buddy Oakley. Matt skipped afternoon practice and went to the early morning one again. He missed the 11-on-11 scrimmage with Seymour but didn?t seem too distraught over it. This has been a great week; we?ve been able to watch all the stuff on our DVR! It was nearly full and now is down to under 10% full with only a couple shows left. I could get used to this, man? Friday was a long day. I put in a 13 hour day, preparing for the biggest project of my career where we are replacing the flooring in most of the facility. The logistics of it are a nightmare. I am planning on many more long days in the coming weeks. There was a heat advisory as the temperatures reached in to the upper 90?s and the humidity was absolutely off the hook. When I got home, it was straight to the pool to begin family night. Next it was dinner. The kids insisted on pizza, so after scarfing down Papa John?s, the kids wanted to play Wii on the new TV. We played a few games of Mario Kart and then settled in for a movie. The kids wanted to watch one he hadn?t seen in a while and settled on the original Disney movie Atlantis ? The Lost Empire. It was a great family night that went way too fast. On Saturday, it was extremely hot and humid. It was our third straight heat advisory for the area. I took the kids over to Mom & Sandy?s and knocked out their lawn. They were gone so the kids played at Dee & Jamie?s house. We came back and took our time outside working in the yard. Matt was kind enough to keep me hydrated and by the time I was finished, you would?ve sworn I had just gotten out of the pool!! Later that afternoon, we hopped in the pool for a few hours as Luke had Alex over to play. Luke finally let me pull his tooth. After the pool, Alex stayed over and played Legos with Lukey and Ann fixed us homemade ravioli. Luke went to Alex?s house later on and stayed the night with him.

To wrap up the week on Sunday, we had the family over to celebrate Sandy?s birthday (which is actually tomorrow, the 26th. Gigi came over early and went swimming with Abby. When Mom, Dee & Jamie came over, I grilled out burgers & dogs. Mom made homemade mac & cheese & deviled eggs, Jamie made some homemade coney sauce and Ann made more of her homemade salsa that was a big hit! I think we ate the entire bowl before lunch! We enjoyed lunch during the Brickyard 400. It was the bomb in high def on the big screen! If I only had my sound system hooked up?but that?s another story? Gigi opened presents and we had cake and ice cream. Before the race had ended, everyone went home. We took it easy the rest of the day and bummed around in between knocking out our weekly chores. We received Abby?s soccer schedule already and Ann starting looking up the Freshman & Junior Varsity games to start getting an idea of what we have to look forward to. She is going to sign up Bu for a couple dance classes again this fall. I would assume Luke?s soccer should be starting before long as well. Well, it was a nice break while it lasted?

Here is a quick video from this fast week:

?and here are some other stuff I enjoyed from the ?net this week:

Let?s take a quick peek at some Waybac photos, shall we? Leading off, we have?an old one of my Grandmaw Brown. On the back of the photo, the caption reads, ?Stinky & Connie ? Ginny Wilson, taken when I was staying with Grandmother Leif in 1940.??? Mom, can I assume this is still in Lafayette? I took the original and made a couple different crops from it. I did something similar with the next one, also of Grandmaw Brown. This one reads on the back, ?Taken at Dayton Dam in June, 1946.??? I will assume Dayton Dam is in Dayton, OH. Mom, any thoughts? Next up is a school picture of Mom O in the fall of ?51. Maryann is probably an 8th grader here, about 13 years old in Greensburg. I?ve never heard of West Grade School before?. The last one in the early section is Mom B in what I will assume is her junior year picture at Central Catholic in Lafayette during the fall of ?66. This is a terrible copy of this beautiful picture; I?ll need to re-do this with our new scanner at some point?

Starting off the next section is a cute one from the Greensburg Daily News paper in approximately December of 1977. It features Grandpa O, Deanna and Ann and I believe this takes place in their home on Main St. Next is my Grandmaw & Grandpaw Brown in our first home in LaPorte (Kenwood St.). The caption on the back reads, ?Taken at Sandy?s, our 34th Anniversary on Aug 31, 1980.??? Rob, you were pretty small, but do you recognize any of the stuff in the background? They are standing in our living room? Next is Gigi from the mid-80s at the WTRE station and Dee Dee in her 3rd (?) grade picture, both in Greensburg. Next we have a Bryan Christmas picture in Kokomo with Nathan, me, Rob and Katie opening our presents in the living room. Dad B and Peanuts are featured on the next photo from about late ?83/early ?84 on the new trundle beds in the living room of our 2nd home in LaPorte (Rockwood). And finally we have one of Grandpaw and is buddies from WWII, I think…I wonder if this is the 40th anniversary reunion in the mid-80s (there are no captions or info??)…and then from about April of 1985 with the boys (Rob & Dad B) asleep on the old couch and chair in our living room in LP.

Now I understand why Dad slept so much because I feel the same way?

Our next section for this week starts off with a really cool picture of Dee & Mom O at the beach in California in what I assume is the fall of ?85 when they escorted Keith to college. That is followed up by a picture of Uncle Kenny Hauser in his basement (I think?)?gotta love it ? playing cards with a beer and on the wall behind him: Budweiser, Purdue and ?kittens??? 😛 Next are a few of Aunt Marilou Hauser?s retirement party at her pole barn in Rossville (I love that sign?and is that her ear piece? Then we have a couple from the end of ?88 (circa): Rob in our living room in LP (OK Rob, how ?bout now?remember all that stuff in the background? Look at that old cable box! We?ll have to watch Who Framed Roger Rabbit ? that?s a great movie. And then finally is a Christmas play at Riley. I think I can barely see Rob up on the stage at right in Dad?s old blue bath robe? I remember that gym floor was carpet ? the first I had ever seen. I sang in a bunch of choir shows on that stage?and played there on the 6th grade Riley Rockets basketball team.

Finally, we have Mom O with Dee & Gizmo (Gizzie) around Christmas of ?92 or ?93; a couple of Matthew in about August or so of ?96 in our Columbus apartment; Matt & Mom O in her kitchen in the Ryle Addition about a month later; Rob with Matt about a couple weeks later up in Rossville at their front house, Matt again a couple weeks later in October (I think this is taken upstairs at the Columbus townhouse, but I?m not sure); Matt a couple months later on Christmas Day in Columbus and then up in Rossville a day or so later with his scary clown toy. 😛

Well that?s it for this edition of the Scheu Family Blog. Thanks for keeping up with us this week and we?ll catch up with ya next time. Until then, have a good one.
Later, Scheu

[1
