We’ve had such a long week since we last touched base. Matt had a full week of teaching and coaching in Zionsville. He went 1-1 on the week, losing his first meet of the year (his team is now 7-1 on the year). We were hoping to go see him coach next week. With COVID, we haven’t been able to make it up there yet as his county is in the red. We’ll see how it goes, because we’d love to watch the Battle for the Nest again. We enjoyed seeing him for a few hours this weekend, which was nice. He said his meeting with Cathy went really well, so we’ll see where it leads… Abby endured her first full week of school, as she began the second semester of her junior year. She was a little homesick at first, but once she got into the groove with her friends, sorority sisters and boyfriend she was fine. She did end up coming home this weekend, which was cool. I know the dogs loved it as much as we did! It was a long week for the puppers. It had been several weeks since they were alone all day. Luke had a good week of school. He had a modified week of wrestling practices since there were only four of them still in the state tourney. He still managed to find time to see friends and even worked a little this week. Ann and I had full work weeks. She is getting around so good now. If you didn’t know, you couldn’t even tell she had bionic knees. I continued working out with Bryan at his home gym this week, getting together over there twice. I was hoping to bump it up a day this week, but that didn’t quite turn out the way I was hoping. I only walked two days this week as well, managing a measly four and a half miles of exercise at the mall due to the busy week. I looked forward all week to the big football game this weekend, especially with all the hype around the Mahomes vs. Brady matchup. The Super Bowl had the potential to be a great matchup and there was a lot of anticipation leading up to it this week…it did not live up to the hype. The weather continued to dump a ton of precip on us. What was different this week was that it got colder and colder as the days passed. And by the time I finished writing this entry on Sunday night, it was some of the coldest air we’d had in a long while. Hello and welcome to the latest version of the Scheu Family Blog.
We were awakened early on Monday by the home phone ringing. Due to everything freezing and the fact that it snowed all night, they decided to make it an e-learning day for school. Luke was thrilled and pretty much laid in his bed all day, doing school on his phone since he couldn’t find his laptop’s power cord. Abby began her first day of the second semester of her junior year. She had a little homesickness as she returned to a full slate of classes. She came home briefly that afternoon, following her toe doctor appointment. She got to see her dogs, which was her chicken soup for her soul and just the thing she needed before heading back to school. Matt had a two-hour delay with his class then had wrestling practice. We weren’t sure if Luke would have practice, but coach texted us later that day and said the kids would have practice for a couple hours that afternoon. Ann and I had long, exhausting days. I got out late and didn’t have a chance to go walking that afternoon. When we got home, all I wanted to do was nap on the couch. After culling pix and vids from my sources for this week’s blog, I grabbed a plate of leftovers and finally got that nap I was longing for. I also got to watch a couple more episodes of Star Trek Voyager while editing this week’s video. Luke pretty much kept to himself, playing online videos all evening. He did come out and talk to us for about five minutes while making food runs to the kitchen. He said we could have six tickets per kid, so Ann made plans to take Matt & Taylor and Gary & Gail this weekend to Richmond to watch Luke wrestle in the Regionals tourney. I eventually got tired of napping on the couch and turned in early, hoping to catch up on the sleep I lost last night. Here are pictures from Luke’s matches at last weekend’s Sectional tourney.
