…Say do You Remember…Dancin’ in September…

It’s been a little bit since we last touched base. Here’s a quick update. Luke continues to work hard and play hard. He continues to do grow his SD Contracting business as well as work privately, work for Bryan as well as doing lawncare. He isn’t seeing Samantha as much these days, since she began nursing school. He tries to spend time with friends when he can and enjoys going to the local gun shop and the shooting range, up in Greenwood. He & Alex are coaching the junior high football team again. Their 7th grade team started off pretty rough as their numbers continue to dwindle. They finally won their first game when they defeated Rushville. I believe they are the only team to win twice on the new high school football field. After their big one, the boys enjoyed shaving Coach Scheumann’s head! Abby has begun thinking about life after her current employer, Sly Fox. She loves it there, mostly, but would like to work closer to home and bring in more compensation (don’t we all). Abs spent time with her friends a few times. She & Seth still come over quite a bit, but it’s been more of a challenge lately with him moving to 2nd shift. She has stepped back her hours at Wings & Rings due to coaching the Pirateers. She was promoted to Head Coach and is loving it! They only have three football games this year, so we’ve made it a point to attend them all. Abs turned 25 recently…man…a quarter century sounds old, doesn’t it? We had a family dinner for her where she chose Ann’s famous chicken fettuccine alfredo. Unfortunately, Maddie & Taylor weren’t able to make it down. In fact, they haven’t been down much this year as they’ve grown older. I know that was a change that Ann & I went through as well. As we got older it got harder and harder to get back home to see Mom & Dad. Maddie had big news for the family, which may have contributed to the increased absences, telling us about a transgender identification – thus the subtle change in the preferred name that I’ve been using for the last several months. We are supportive of our children’s choices and love them all unconditionally. Ann’s work has been doing very good. She enjoyed the annual girls’ trip. They wound up going on a cruise this year and they loved it! She hasn’t done much scrapbooking lately but still managed to get out and have dinner with that group. She hasn’t done much with Amy lately, who has been caring for her mother who has had a rough few months. Thankfully, she is doing much better now but it was touch and go for a while there. Dad B was all geared up to have a procedure done and to enter a study for his heart. However, when he went to have it performed, his body was actually doing better and as such – was no longer a candidate for the study. He has gotten stronger each week and is doing much better now. My work has gotten better as the summer progressed, as we built up our staffing and with it the ability to increase our census. We’ve had a few regulatory inspections but have done pretty well. I try to play disc golf each day, only resting my arm a day or two each week. I had two hole-in-ones this summer. They’re my first two of the year and my 5th & 6th all-time. Dennis & I entered another tourney. Unfortunately, Seth wasn’t able to join us this time. It was on a new course they set up, out on the AirPark property, in a little wooded area that I didn’t even know existed a few weeks ago. I played decently but felt I left too much on the table. To my surprise, I received an email later that evening – notifying me that I had won it all! I plan to play in the annual Batesville tourney at the end of October, but right now that may be the last one of the year for me. I was thrilled to hear that the temporary course we played on at the AirPark will become a permanent one in the near future! I’ve added a few new discs to my bag as my arm has continued to develop this year. I set a new PB with distance by just missing the 400’ mark. I recently tied the course record at the AirPark. I nearly tied the course record on the front 9 at Greensburg, falling just one stroke short of the record that set last year. I also had my best score on the front 9 at Donner which was the 4th best score all-time. Dennis & I played golf at a few different spots this summer, including Cereland, Shelbyville, Batesville and of course our favorite – North Vernon. I am hopeful we can do a few others before the end of the fall. I was thrilled to uncover my original disc golf disc in the garage while hunting for my record collection. I am more motivated than ever now to clean out that garage. My Scorpion disc from 1994 is still in great shape and I’ve had fun throwing it in certain situations. I picked up some new vinyl this summer as well. It has been so much fun hearing music the way it was meant to be heard again. The dogs have enjoyed a good summer. With the addition of Dixie (our new Burnadoodle puppy), it has made things very busy around the house. She has been great but is still learning the hierarchy of things. She is very sweet and despite being a big girl, is so gentle. Granted, she’s still a puppy and has no spatial awareness whatsoever – lol. Overall, it’s been a good summer for all of us. Let’s hope this fall – and the upcoming election – can be just as good… Hello and welcome to the summer edition of the Scheu Family Blog. Here are random pictures from our recent adventures.

And that does it for this episode of the Scheu Family Blog. Thanks for keeping up with us this time out and we’ll catch up with you again next time. Until then, have a good one and stay safe out there. We sure miss you, Momma.
Later, Scheu
