We had a fun week this go round, as we started to find our groove. With Matt attending basketball practice each night, Abby going to both her dance classes and Luke having school on three days, we’re getting accustomed to the fast-paced lifestyle once again. Midterms come out later this week, so the two older ones are trying to scramble and catch up on a couple things to ensure they get the best grades they can. Matt especially has to keep his grades up to remain on the basketball team. The weather was funky, starting out warmer early in the week…until it began to rain. In fact, we’ve received a lot of rain…and with it, the coldest temps of the season. We woke up this morning to our first snow flurries and minor accumulation on the vehicles and rooftops!
Matt played in an exhibition game on Saturday, as the 7th grade “A??? team played against itself and the 7th grade “B??? team did similarly. Matt played in the “B??? team game. I was picking up an extra shift, but Ann said it was definitely a defensive struggle and it was obvious that it was still early in the season as their game ended 4-1 (sounds like a soccer score). She said both teams had several issues and that they have a long way to go yet. I’m just proud that he has made it this far. I know it was at this level that my skill set led me towards wrestling and away from organized basketball, so I think he’s doing great. He has his first official game tomorrow night, so he’s already a little nervous! Thankfully all the travelling isn’t such a big deal these days, as our local gas station finally dropped below the $2 / gallon mark for th first time in well over a year…maybe closer to two!!
Today, MaryAnn celebrated her 70th birthday. She said she didn’t want a party, so Ann made a delicious spaghetti dinner and Deanna made an angel food cake and we just got together for a couple hours – had lunch, cake/ice cream and opened presents. It was a nice, relaxed atmosphere and everyone enjoyed the food and slow down…
OK, just a short entry this time. Here are a few “Way Back??? pictures…
First up, we have the main ladies in my life (where’s Gigi?); taken at the Greensburg Baptist Church on September 23rd (that’s a popular day in this family!) of 1995.
Next up is a picture from June of 1991, in my room in the Indiana Delta chapter house of F?T at Franklin College. This was my first beer after the graduation ceremony! What a great day that was (it seems so long ago now)…
Next up is Abby in 2005. This was taken across the street at our neighbor’s house (the Welage’s). It was Elaine’s 7th birthday (tea) party. I remember she and the other little girls really enjoyed this party.
Here is a good picture Matt & Abby at the old terminal of the Indianapolis airport in 2004. Indy opened a new terminal this past week, replacing the aging building on the east side of the city.
Here’s Lukey from the same year, out in our play room.
Here is a picture of Matt, Abby & Phyllis at her retirement party in the dining room of their home in 2001.
Here is a great picture of the Morgan branch of our family tree. Obviously, too many to list here; but what makes this one special is the inclusion of Uncle Ralph and Aunt Norma (the matriarch on that side of the family). This was taken in the late summer of 1999, just before Abby was born.
Here is an old, forgotten one. This was taken at our townhouse in Columbus during Matthew’s first birthday party in 1997.
Here is a funny one. Even though the heading says it pertains to the Ward family, this is actually Abby’s birth announcement from the Greensburg Daily News…obviously in 1999.
Here’s a cute one from a few years back as well. This one was taken at the Main St. house in about 2002 or so (maybe Easter?).
Here we have two rugrats at Granny Scheumann’s house on 9th St in Lafayette. I believe this was taken only weeks before she moved in to her current, assisted-living home, in latter part of 2002.
We finish up with three more from Aunt Sharon’s stash! The first two are from January, 1980 (what is on Grandmaw Bryan’s head???) J These were both taken in the Smith’s living room on S. Waugh St. in Kokomo. The third pic is from July 4th a year later in 1981. It was taken in the backyard of our Rockwood St. home in LaPorte.

Thanks as again for taking the time to keep up with our family and we’ll catch yo next time!
