July flew past us very quickly. It’s hard to believe that we are already into August and the kids are already back in school! Where has the year gone? We’re already talking about and making plans for Christmas. Mom was spot on when she said the days get longer as you get older, but the years go faster and faster. It was a good month. It sure was hot but that didn’t stop us from getting out and doing things. Seth, Dennis, Abby & I have been disc golfing whenever possible. I was able to play nearly every day. Still no aces yet this year but I’ve been getting closer… We haven’t gone out for any pickleball in a while – not since Ann’s wrist injury. We enjoyed some porch time together, though – especially on the weekends and even managed to get in a few fires to go along with our cigars and bourbons. We attended a wedding with the Guards. Although we’ve talked to Maddy & Taylor, I don’t think we’ve seen them since Luke’s 21st. Abby & Seth went to a couple concerts and had a nice photo session with them and Tilly. We had fun at the Sunken Boat Bar on the 4th of July with a great fireworks display around the pond and music by Brothers. Ann & I opted out of seeing the parade on the 4th due to it raining and really not feeling it. Abby is about done at her current job as she is just plain out of “give-a-shits.” She is also about done with picking up shifts at Wings & Rings. However, she is still loving being a coach for the Pirateers and is ready for the season to start. We had fun celebrating Luke’s birthday at the end of June and then he & Samantha went to TN for a long weekend with a few of their couple friends that turned out to have a little more drama than they had intended. But they all made it home safely with lots of stories to tell. We went out with Bryan & Angie and our couples friends to a comedy show at the Fieldhouse and had great seats. They were supposed to be really bougee ones, but I thought the ones we had were pretty sweet! We had a big party for Gigi’s birthday with some fun little games and lots of ice cream cake! I acquired a few new records, a few new bourbons, a couple new discs and some new Hot Wheels. Seth, Dennis & I played in a disc golf tourney. Dennis & I tied for 3rd, but it was Seth that walked away with the most new discs when it was all said and done! We enjoyed watching the Olympics and cheered on the women’s soccer team to another gold medal as well as the men’s basketball team, the women’s gymnastics and some other sports. We even watched a little bit of wrestling, rugby and “breaking” (break dancing). I still think there should be disc golf in the LA Olympics! We enjoyed going on the Jeep Ride with the Messers last weekend. Luke & Sam celebrated their 2nd year of being together. He is keeping busy with his S&D Contracting gigs as well as coaching 7th grade football – both with his BFF, Alex. They had their first scrimmage last weekend. Defense looked good. I would expect nothing less from Coach Scheu. What would’ve been Mom’s 75th birthday came and went quietly. She would’ve loved the new puppy we got a couple weeks ago. Her name is Dixie Rae, and she is a double doodle mix – half Sheepadoodle (like Delilah) and half Burnadoodle. She is super sweet and gentle giant of a pup and we love her dearly. Mom & Sandy are doing great. We need to stop and see them more than we do. Dad & Lynn are also doing well. They’re in Jersey and trying to wait patiently for their turn at the nice retirement village in FLA. Dad is trying to get into a study for a new medicine treatment for his heart issues. Rob & Sharon are back in TN again. I was hoping they’d come up and work in this area again, but not yet… On the weekends, it gets a little crazy at times with four fur babies running around – especially the 3 doodles vs. the “crusty white bitch.” Now if we could just get Remy over, we could really have a party!! That’s it for the stories – not too much to talk about these days. Now on with the pictures… Welcome to the latest iteration of the Scheu Family Blog.
Here are random pictures from our recent adventures.
