Warmer weather has been a happy sign that summer is here. Matt & Abby enjoyed their last day of school on Tuesday; however it was only 41° at wake-up! Thankfully, it has gotten warmer and warmer each day since then, bringing with it their first day in the pool today.

We continue to spend most of our time either at work or at the baseball complex, as all three kids are in full swing of their seasons. Matt’s team is very competitive and has only lost two games. He continues to improve with each game and has raised his batting average to nearly .400! Abby continues to lead her team in hitting (over .900!), as she is in the midst of an incredible hit streak, reaching base safely in each at-bat except one – for the entire season!!!! Luke continues to improve his offensive skills and is getting better defensively with each game he plays.
Both of the big kids ended the academic year on positive notes:
Matt attended a band banquet where he was recognized for lettering in band and received two awards! A couple days later, he attended the 6th grade awards ceremony, where he again received two awards (Top 10 Band & for placing 5th in the whole 6th grade class in AR – Accelerated Reading)! He somehow earned his way on to the A/B Honor Roll again this semester as well!!
Abby attended her 2nd grade awards ceremony, where she received three awards. She was recognized for her reading skills, earned the Citizenship Award for her class and earned her way on to the straight-A Honor Roll again!! In fact, she earned straight-A’s the entire year!! We are very proud of both children for their accomplishments this year.
Luke has talked about nothing except it being summer and going swimming. We still haven’t gotten the pool properly repaired from the winter damage we incurred. However, Tom was able to get it reshaped enough to make it safe for the summer. In the fall, we will get it repaired properly. Luke had a lot of fun this past weekend on Memorial Day. He was still talking about it on Thursday, out at the ball diamonds with his teammates.
We had friends and family over for what has become an annual event the past 4 or 5 years now. The pool was much too cold to play in, but we had a pretty cool water fight that made up for it! We also enjoyed volleyball, trackball and of course the cornhole tourney. Chad and Tom again dominated the day. After allowing Matt & Brayton to win the first game of the day (you gotta keep the younger generation interested), they never lost again; going 8-1 for the day. Of course the highlight of the day was the food. Tom grilled-out burgers and dogs while Ann made everything under the sun. Couple that with plenty of cold beverages, a little Pyrat Rum (thanks Chad!), the Indy 500 cranked up on the radio and lots of sunshine – and you’ve got one unforgettably, enjoyable day!
In closing, congratulations are in order for Grandmaw & Grandpaw Bryan on the newest addition to their family. They have a new little boy poodle named Charlie…
