I’m all Regional Now…Dive on In…

We’ve had another week speed by us since we last touched base. It was, in many ways, the end of the winter season for us. We saw precipitation pretty much every day and for several days this week, it was snow. Now that football is gone, it’s time for racing. We watched some of the Daytona Speedweeks action with a little qualifying for the 500 and then the Busch Clash (or should I call it the Busch Crash since it had so many wrecks – only 6 cars finished the race!) to kick off the NASCAR racing season. Matt had another good week of teaching and coaching wrestling at Zionsville West, including a dual meet victory. Abby had her first week of Spring semester classes at Franklin College. She was selected as the Pi Phi representative at the Panhellenic Council, which is cool. I remember doing the same for a couple semesters as a Phi Delt back in the 90s. Luke was a one-sport athlete this week, focusing solely on wrestling in preparation for the next round of the state tournament. Ann had a long week of work and split her free time between seeing some friends, attending After-Prom stuff and spending a day in another stinky gym on butt-numbing bleachers. I had a fast week of work, doing all my start-of-the-month stuff. I fell short of my exercise goal again this week with only about eight miles of walking. Although I did better on my diet through the week, I still struggled on the weekend. It was a huge thrill to experience the Regionals tournament with Luke this weekend. We are so proud of him and all that he accomplished this year. Although the ride ended this week, we were sure glad to be right at his side to experience it all with him. Hello again and welcome to the latest installment of the Scheu Family Blog.

I thought it was a joke when the alarm went off on Monday morning to start our week. I was really hoping for Super Monday to be a holiday…maybe next year? Ann & I drove in to work on a noticeably warmer morning. Luke got up and went to school and then had a good wrestling practice before coming home to relax. He was pretty wiped out that evening and wasn’t up very late before giving it up and going on to bed. Ann & I both had fast days at work. Justin was on-board with the idea of it being a national holiday / day off (think day after Thanksgiving…) and ended up leaving early. That allowed me to get a lot of work done as everyone left me alone. I wrote up work orders from my EOC rounds last week and got all the purchasing done for the start of the month. I walked three miles outside on a gorgeous afternoon. The sun was out, the birds were singing and it was in the sixties. However, it didn’t last; by the time I was done and was headed to pickup Annie it had clouded up, the wind picked-up and the temps started dropping. When we got home, I began work on our taxes. It took me until after midnight, but I got most of everything done. I submitted Abby’s, need one more thing for ours, and still need a few things for Matt’s return. With Abby gone, the dogs struggled while we were at work today. There was pee in the kitchen when we got up that morning. When we got back from work there was pee and poop. Delilah did pretty good in her kennel; we just hate having her locked up for that long…but she’ll survive – Molly & Lola both did. She’s already starting to mellow a bit…but you still have to be on her constantly because despite all her positive behaviors, she’s still a pup and gets into (and chews!) everything. Here are pictures from Luke’s wrestling tournament at Milan a couple weekends ago.

Lola struggled overnight again. Although she was up pacing and peed in the kitchen; at least she hit the piddle pad. She was downright mean to Delilah that morning and we had to have a come to Jesus moment where I reminded her that I am the Alpha dog of this pack and I wasn’t going to stand for her bullying ‘Lilah. Ann & I had long, busy days at work on a damp day. It rained on and off pretty much the entire day. I ran Annie to a meeting at the hospital that afternoon then walked about a mile and a half at the mall before picking her back up and heading home a little early. The dogs did a little better today, with only one accident in the house. Although Lola was a little boisterous, she was at least more cordial with Ms. Delilah. Luke did not have football practice that morning, so he enjoyed sleeping in a little, getting in a cup of coffee with his breakfast before heading into school. He went to wrestling practice that afternoon. Ann used her extra time to organize her scrapbooking supplies in all the new totes she got for her birthday that evening. Luke was in the paper that day for his wrestling accomplishments, along with his teammates. I worked on the blog video featured below that evening and started in on the pictures. Here are pictures from Ann’s 50th birthday party last weekend.
