Baseball season is in full swing (sorry) as Luke and his Marlins team dominated league play this week. Matt continued the job search. Abby wound down another dance season. The kids worked hard in school as summer is quickly approaching. Ann continued to make progress with her thyroid and is even getting around a little better this week. Hello and welcome back to the Scheu Family Blog.
Monday was a cold start to the week, as we were in the mid-thirties on our way in to work. Luke had football camp after school. Abby and Ann went to the final jazz class of the year at Dixon. I walked to the airport after work. Matt secured an interview this week and worked out at the Fieldhouse. He & Luke enjoyed a spirited game of basketball in the driveway and Ann was feeling pretty good that evening, despite working all day. Here are pictures from last Sunday when the kids helped Ann plant flowers in the front yard.
We had another cool, damp day on Tuesday. Abby was in early for Student Council before school. Luke had football camp after school and then had a baseball game vs. the Reds. Bryan & Drew were absent due to the band/choir concert, as were a couple of others, which made it challenging that night. But one of the dads stepped up and helped out, which allowed me to do my thing and we never missed a beat. Ann & the kids came out to watch another wet baseball game. Ann finished it from the car but the kids braved it out from the stands. Luke played 1st base and again achieved an unassisted out via the hidden ball trick! He also pitched a perfect inning, striking out the side on 10 pitches! He was 2-2 from the plate with a single, double and walk. He stole 5 bases and scored 3 runs in another 11-0 route. We called off the dogs after the 3rd inning so as to not run up the score. Big thanks to Matt for taking pictures at the game. We went out afterward for dinner and a margarita at ElRep. Thanks again to Matt for being the DD! When we got home, I inspected the sidewalk and stairs up close to make sure they were still structurally sound…LOL I got a little skinned up in the process but was no worse for the wear. I hopped up real quick and tried to play it off but the dirt and blood gave it away. :0) We all had a good laugh. Here are some sites from this week.
We finally some sunshine on Wednesday! It was a much warmer day. Matt worked out at the high school. Abby worked at DDS w/ Kyla (now a Colts cheerleader!) after school. Luke had football camp after school. Ann made taco salad for dinner & Matt ran leftovers to the girls at Dixon (because they were “starving???). I tried to walk the neighborhood, but had to cut it short due to my back & knee killing me (damn tornadic activity last night!). So I came home to do my stretches – I may need to do them twice a day at this point I think. It was a gorgeous night though. Later Matt went out with his buddies until late.
Abby took Luke to school on Thursday morning, but not before knocking over the trash can as she pulled out of the driveway, giving us all a good laugh to start the day. Luke had football camp again after school. Matt had his interview during day and then joined Luke & I at the ball diamonds for Luke’s 3rd game of the year. This time we faced the Pirates. Luke played 1st base and fielded a few balls very nicely. I had forgotten how good of a glove that boy has at first. He was 3-3 at the plate, bashing a double, triple and homerun – almost hitting for the cycle! He had 3 stolen bases and scored 3 runs as we again run-ruled the competition, this time 14-2. Ann missed the game as she worked late then took Bu to her final tap class at Dixon for the year. Afterwards the dancers and dance moms all went out for dinner at BWR and the boys ate at Wendy’s, which opened today after being closed for a month for remodeling.
Luke had a good day at school on Friday finally, after getting in a little trouble over the past few weeks. He missed his track banquet earlier in the week, unfortunately. We didn’t know anything about it which is too bad since it is one the more fun banquets, out at Mrs. Burkhart’s farm. He won the award for being the most-improved sprinter! He had his final day of football camp after school. Ann went out with Amy after work. Matt worked out at the gym again. I walked the IUPUC campus after work. The boys and I waited on Abby, who was working with her Junior Optimist Club at the junior high. We went out to ElRep for dinner and margaritas when she finally got home. And today was Rob & Sharon’s 3-year and 1-week anniversary…can’t believe I missed it last week. Happy Anny, guys – we love you!! Haven’t seen many pictures from Week 19 this year…
Ann & Bu were up early on Saturday morning for dress rehearsals on the final day of dance. Luke & I got up for baseball practice but it was rained out. He did play basketball out front while I watched the races from last night. Later we ran errands and mowed our damp lawn before taking naps and watching the Indy 500 qualifications. Later we all got cleaned up and headed to the high school for the annual season-ending Dixon Dance Revue. Bu was again in the opener, her two competition dances and in the finale, as she made the Star Steppers in both tap and jazz again this year. She looked awesome as always and really stood out as such a talented dancer. I wasn’t the only one to notice as I overheard several positive comments. Somehow she was snubbed by the judges this year for the Miss Personality award…would like to know who the judges were this year… Mom & Sandy as well as Bailey & a friend and Jaden joined us this year. We got there a pinch later than normal and boy was it packed! We sat father back than we ever have and sat on the opposite side than we have in years past. We went out for dinner at Pizza King after the big show – as has become the tradition for us. Mom, Gigi and Jaden joined us to help celebrate another great year of dance. Hard to believe we only have two years of this left…and big thanks to Gigi for taking pictures; we’ll have those in our next entry. We have new social media pictures to share: Abby with friends; Brooke; Ally & Shawn; new season of AHS was announced; Donald Cartman; Emily & fam; Nate & fam; Joey; Uncle John w/ Kimmy’s boys; and Allen & Frankie.
Sunday was a gorgeous day in the 80s. We finally got to sleep in. Luke & I eventually got around to doing our weekly household chores, our monthly auto maintenance and even got around to finally repairing the front commode. In the afternoon, we napped, watched NASCAR from last night and Indy 500 qualifications. It was Pole Day and went down to the very last driver and had a storybook ending. The girls went shopping later and Ann cooked burgers and dogs on the grill. That evening, Abby went with Britney and her dad up to Deer Creek Pavilion (now known under some corporate sponsor name), just outside of Indy to see a concert by the Zac Brown Band!
Next up is our Waybac section, which continues to feature pix from both our early family photo albums as well as goodies procured during Mom’s recent move to her new home.
