Talk about Her like a Queen, Dancing in an Easter(n) Dream

This was another week filled with constant rain and flooding. On Monday, Matt started a new workout regimen with a supplement to help build muscle. He mixed his own the first day and put a little too much mix in it and about puked. Thankfully he got the right mixture and started using milk instead of water and it’s much more palatable now. I was late getting home that night due to our network migration over to our new parent company, UHS. I would spend the rest of the week ironing out all the issues. Abby went to jazz dance class at Dixon and twisted her ankle during a coffee grinder move that went awry. It stopped raining long enough for Luke, Bu and I to exercise for an hour by walking, bike riding, go-karting and playing kickball with the neighborhood kids out in the front yard until dinner / dusk. Annie made a great tuna fish salad for us and fish sticks for the kids – one of their favorite meals. Luke went out digging afterwards in Ann’s flower garden by the light pole with his new shovel that Mommy brought back from Florida for him. Abby did the dishes, a chore she has been doing more of lately. I treated the kids to Dairy Point ice cream for their help around the house and for Luke’s good behavior at school (all green cards for nearly a month now – way to go buddy!). The Pacers lost their 1st playoff game (their first game in nearly a decade??). The Lakers also started and promptly lost their opening game as well. The Reds have cooled down after their hot start and even through they’re still leading the division, their record stood at 9-6 at week’s start. It rained all night again.
On Tuesday it continued to rain – and just after I got all the water drained off the pool cover! Luke’s baseball practice got cancelled due to rain and flooding. Matt continued weight lifting. Abby & I had optometrist appointments. Lukey went home with Christi from school and Ann picked him up and ended up staying most of the evening before FINALLY coming home. I was able to squeeze in 30 minutes of walking between the rain drops. It stormed hard that night and kept us awake off and on throughout the night… It rained so hard the past two days that we’ve had widespread flooding throughout the region by this time in the week. That Wednesday morning, we dropped off the Pacifica at the body shop. I drove the truck in to work for the first time in over a year. Luke had a make-up practice that became a practice game at North Park that became a cancelled practice game due to the extensive flooding. Abby went to an early dinner with Megan & Julie uptown at Stories and then went with me to softball practice where we froze our butts off. Abby had a pizza party at school for placing 1st in Spell Bowl and received a nice picture, certificate and there was a nice little write-up in the newspaper on their successes. Ann did a sweet thing and made / delivered dinner to her friend at work who had a death in the family. She had roast waiting for us after Bu’s practice (it was the best she’s ever made!)…so it was OK that it was supposed to be popcorn night for AI. Speaking of which, Casey was amazing again and James was really good as well – although not as good as last week, IMHO.

On Thursday, I got to drive the truck again. I was shocked to find frost on the windows as I fired it up that morning. Ann received a loaner car (wait till you see it!!) from the body shop so I got the van back. She actually looks good in it and it even smiles! Perhaps it will keep her in a good mood – ha! Ha! Abby went to tap dance class and missed softball for it again. Luke had a baseball practice game where the kids looked pretty good but have a lot of work to do yet as well. Luke is improving, going 3-3 at the plate and had several assists at the pitcher position. I have got to get him to quit throwing sidearm!! On Friday we had – can you guess – rain, rain, rain. Megan spent the night with Abby. Ann made baked spaghetti and at dinner, Luke said the damnedest thing to Matt. He was gazing at his face and quipped, “Matt, why does it look like a squirrel (tail) is on your lip?” We all rolled out of our chair and Matt hasn’t been able to live that one down all week! LOL! After dinner, we turned off all the lights, turned the TV way up and watched (and sang along to) Mary Poppins. It had been such a long time since we had seen it and had forgotten how good it was. The girls were a little mean to Lukey, but he gave it right back to them. We only had to raise our voices a few times to keep the animals tame. On Saturday, we had a small window to mow at Gma & Gigi’s house and at home. I wasn’t able to use the trimmer as it was being “looked at” by JT (although I don’t think he’s had a chance to get to it yet). That darn thing is so temperamental. The kids helped us clean up the house until Keith and Rosie came in to town for the holiday. We met up with them at Mom & Sandy’s house and we all went out for dinner at Buffalo Wings & Rings. We all ate too much (and a few of us drank a little too much!). Luke won a teddy bear out of the crane game. Keith & I both won a game each on the Buzztime Trivia. Keith & I stopped by the liquor store afterwards and picked up a couple 6 packs (yes, we were good boys). He recommended a darker beer I had never tried before called Fat Tire. After the margaritas at dinner, I thought Land Shark sounded good. We all met back at Mom & Sandy’s house where Gigi & I instigated a euchre tourney with Jamie & Ann. It was boys vs. girls and all three games were good, but Ann ended the evening in apropos fashion by getting a lay-down loner dealt to her by Jamie to end the game and the best-of-three series! The Reds and Pacers finally won a game each that night as well. Luke was awfully cute when he asked around midnight if we were going to bed soon so the Easter Bunny could come to house. 😉

Easter Sunday came way to fast as Luke was up at the butt-crack of dawn that morning. Thankfully the Easter Bunny had hidden the baskets well enough to allow everyone else a chance to wake up. He was so excited and actually found all three baskets that morning! We were back at Gma & Gigi’s for lunch…and as usual she went all out!! There was turkey and ham, “noonles & tadies,” homemade mac & cheese, past salad, yams, Ann’s green bean casserole, Ann’s rolls, and lots of pies and other treats. I ate sooo much; it was all so good, as usual. After lunch, Jamie & Deanna held their annual Easter egg hunt in the front and side yards. The kids had a blast and they were tailored appropriately to their ages. Matt’s were really hard to find. We had a nice 2-hour window of sunny weather outside to enjoy the hunt. Thanks to both of them for putting on this much-anticipated event again this year!! Once the kids had a chance to check out all their loot and settle down a little, Gigi had her traditional Holiday Bingo game. She had some really great prizes and even though I didn’t win any games this year, I still came away with three Hot Wheels some how! (Thanks Ann!). We came home and did some more chores while Ann ran out to a friend’s house to help with after-prom festivities for a few hours and the kids all went to bed early.

Next, let’s take a look at this week’s family video and some miscellaneous ones from around the net:

Next, let’s flip on the Waybac machine. Leading off, I felt it was appropriate that we start with another batch of pictures from Matt’s 1st Easter at Gma & Gigi’s house in April, 1997; then a group of pictures from a visit to our home in Greensburg by Mom & Dad B with Robbo; then another batch of our vacation in Treasure Island in ’98 or ’99.

Next up, we have a section from 1999: A slew from Abby’s birth in Columbus in September; Matt in his costume at Halloween; and then Christmas Eve at Gma & Gigi’s.

Finally, we have a few from the 21st century: Matt & Abby with some tub time in 2000; dinner time late in the year, 2000 for Bu and then for Matt’s dirty Oreo mouth; Matt in his Superman Underoos in 2K; Ann & I with Dana at the 2002 BHC Xmas party at Otter Creek golf course; and then a group from Christmas Day at our house in 2006.

Great video from Easter!!! My how pretty MaryAnn’s yard is. I wonder who does it for her??? I really liked Ann’s rental car. I just love a bug!! So has it stopped raining on you guys yet? Wow what a mess!! Did you get any bad weather this week? Your Aunt Sharon said a couple of weeks ago they had a storm hit with straight line winds that did alot of tree damage. Luckily they all fell in the right way so no damage to their home, but she said what a mess!!! Your Uncle Dan turned 60 today (Sat) so you’ll have to send him a comment. You don’t turn that magical age but once!! Loved the oldies pics too and the pitures from Easter and it was good to see Keith and his family also. Love you all. XXXOOO’s
